Suzannah Evans is a poet, editor and tutor based in Sheffield. 

Her debut collection Near Future was published by Nine Arches Press in November 2018. Suzannah was the winner of a Gladstone’s Library residency for this book, and she will be in residence at the library for October 2019.

In 2021 she received a Northern Writers’ Award for poetry alongside the poet Harry Man, awarded by Andrew McMillan for her second collection Space Baby, published by Nine Arches Press in June 2022.   

Her poetry has been widely published in magazines including Magma, The Rialto, Poetry Wales, Bath Magg, Butcher’s Dog, The North, Poetry Review and The London Magazine. 

She is co-editor of Everything that Can Happen: Poem About the Future with Tom Sastry, published by the Emma Press.

Her pamphlet Confusion Species was a winner in the 2011 Poetry Business Book and Pamphlet Competition, and in 2013 she received the Andrew Waterhouse Award from New Writing North.

She has taught courses for The Poetry School and workshops for Museums Sheffield, Leeds Museums, Hear My Voice Barnsley and at the Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery at Leeds University.  She has also been mentoring poets to develop their work since 2013.

  3. Hi Suzannah, you were recently named in an OCA (Open College of the Arts tweet) in regard to a text you wrote about an underground stream in Sheffield. As I understand this was part of your submission for the OCA psycho-geography short course. Any chance of reading it!? Am just starting and planning to write about an old town stream that used to run into my local town of Wellington in Somerset. Happy to donate something for doing so. Cheers Amano
